Guests from two Turkish schools visited Palanga Old Gymnasium for the entire week of January 26-31, 2025: the director of one educational institution, Dilek Tansel, the English teacher Sedat Dogruoz, and 10 students, Elif Körük, Sila Yetis, Irem Imali, Yasemin Öncel, Hira Nur Torun, Nazlı Demiröz, Suğra Nur Dilmaç, Hazal Celik, Cemre Nida Tek, Rabia Cemresu Gul.
The Turkish came to the Gymnasium as part of the Erasmus + project, which is implemented by the English teachers Audra Kaklienė and Aušrinė Janušienė.
Lithuanian students guided their Turkish peers and teachers on a tour of the school. Together, they attended various classes, including STEAM, ethics, integrated English and history, music, and art. As part of the Erasmus+ project, the participants explored Palanga’s cultural, historical, and architectural heritage through a guided tour of the city organized by the Lithuanian students, as well as visits to the Palanga Resort Museum and the Amber Museum.
A visit to the Curonian Spit was a memorable experience for both Turkish and Lithuanian students, providing insights into the region’s history and highlighting the importance of environmental conservation.
The Erasmus+ project involved not only the students who participated in the short-term group mobility of students but also many more Ist grade students who shared their knowledge of the country’s cultural, historical , natural and architectural heritage. They prepared presentations which they shared with the Turkish partners as well as learned about the culture, history and nature of Antalya region in Turkey. This close interaction throughout the exchange significantly enhanced the participants’ English language skills. By working collaboratively, the students deepened their understanding of cultural diversity, inclusion, discrimination, and digital education.
